DIY Advent Calendar

I told my boyfriend a couple of months ago that I'd never had an advent calendar before so he suggested we make one for each other! I went for a simple, Scandinavian inspired one. The wire board I already had bought a few years ago for a mood board DIY that you can see here. All the brown paper, twine and pegs I already owned, so the only money I spent on the calendar was what went in each of the boxes.

What I love about this DIY is you can spend as little or as much money on it as you'd like. I got a few gifts around the $5-$10 range and spread them throughout the days. For the rest, I filled them with cute letters, chocolates and DIYs (e.g. a photo frame with a picture in it, teabags that I had at home, a mixtape CD and coupons).

I'd love to know if you try this DIY or make any sort of advent calendar either in the comments section or over on Instagram!

  1. This is such a cute idea! I've always wanted an advent calendar but all they sell here is chocolate filled calendars which gets boring.

    1. Thank you! Yeah the chocolate filled ones get boring quickly and ones that contain other things are usually ridiculously expensive. Definitely recommend finding a friend to do this with!
