Styling a Pinafore | Autumn Fashion

Back in Sydney after a much needed break away. After an exam Friday night (no thank you), a few friends and I headed to Port Stephens for the weekend. I was feeling a little bit under the weather so it was a quiet weekend of board games and many a cup of tea. We watched some of the most beautiful sunsets on the beach while dolphins swam 10 metres from the sand! Saturday lunchtime, we made some sandwiches to eat out on the balcony. When we were almost finished eating, a kookaburra swooped and grabbed the last bite from one of the others' plates - it was terrifying!

Back into the grind this week with 2 assignments, a presentation and 3 exams coming up (YUCK)! Cannot wait for a month away to completely relax for a few weeks. Spending this week housesitting for a family with a very cute dog so hopefully she can motivate me to have a productive week.

Polka Dot Shirt | Autumn Fashion

Wow am I glad it's the weekend. This week has been BUSY, but in the good way. I find the busier my week is, the more quickly it goes and also the more productive I am; as the saying goes, " If you want something done, ask a busy person to do it." It's nice nonetheless, to have a couple of days to take it easy and catch up on study! I have an assignment and exam coming up this week and then I'm heading north for the weekend, so looking forward to that.

This outfit is another one that Tashi and I shot several weeks back on our weekend in the Blue Mountains. We decided to be a bit experimental with the outfit, lighting and the poses, which was a fun change from the usual outfit posts! While this shirt is probably a little too adventurous for me, I do love all of the details such as the tie up front, tiered bell sleeves and low v-neck cut.

Hope you have a great week!

Flower Power | Pin-Up Style

I'm very excited to be sharing with you the final part of our 1950s pin-up shoot from last November. These are one of my favourite blog posts to plan, shoot + edit and I've already started organising future fifties-themed shoots! We took these photos when The Grounds of Alexandria was decked out in Christmas decorations and it was all very festive. This series of photos was one of the hardest we've ever shot as there were hundreds of people. For hours, we would take a couple of photos, gesture to people to walk past, then take a couple more - we felt like traffic controllers! On top of this, it was so sunny, so the lighting wasn't working at all. We were close to giving up until we found some shady areas that were a little less crowded. The photos ended up turning out really well so I'm glad we stayed.

I've been MIA the past few days as uni got a bit crazy with assignments. Had a nice break over the weekend with a friend's 21st and a spent a rainy Sunday playing board games. Back into more assignments and exams over the next few weeks. Hope you have a productive week!

Much love,
Gem x
