This year was my first year out of school and I've been thinking a lot about what's important to me, what my beliefs are and what I stand for. In thinking about these things, I've reflected over what I have learnt in my 19 years of life, and compiled them all into a list to share with you! I'd love to know if any of these stick out for you or even if there's something that you've learnt (that I haven't mentioned here).
19 things I've learnt in 19 years (give or take a few)
- Pay more attention to your thoughts. What you're thinking is what you're attracting.
- Not everyone thinks the same way you think.
- You're feelings are always valid. You're allowed to feel them and you can take as much time as you need to heal.
- What you give power to, has power over you.
- The most beautiful things in life are moments and feelings.
- Some things will never go back to how they used to be, and that's okay.
- Talk to yourself in the same way you would talk to someone else that you love.
- You can't find happiness in other people.
- Do more of what makes you happy.
- It's okay to fail.
- Spend time with your family.
- It's okay to ask for help
- Talk about yourself less
- Always stay true to yourself and your beliefs.
- Exercise more often, even if it feels like a chore
- Debt isn't worth it
- Holding onto a grudge is like injecting yourself with poison every day
- This too shall pass
- You aren't always right
- You can't control others
- Make peace with your past
- What other people think of you is none of your business
- Let go of striving for perfection
- Engage in acts of kindness as often as possible
- Never send an email to/ have a conversation with something you're angry with. Wait until you have processed your emotions.
These are beautiful and so true! I am learning the same lessons :)
